Polish scouts on Sea Scout Cup in USA

ZHP’s representation took part in prestigious William I. Koch International Sea Scout Cup for the second time. This Cup is a biannual Sailing Regatta put on by Sea Scouting (Boys Scouts of America). We are proud to inform that our team took third place in Kiwi Cup Fleet and they were awarded with Sportsmanship Trophy for their exemplary attitude during the races and on land.

Mateusz Fortunka and Joanna Jas are both from 33 Kielecka Harcerska Drużyna Żeglarska “Pasat” (33rd Kielce Scout Sailing Unit ‘Pasat’). They were practising throughout the year and get to the second group fighting for Kiwi Cup (called Kiwi Fleet), when the first group was fighting for the title Koch Cup (called Koch Fleet). They managed to take the third place which is a great success having in mind the high level of the regatta and the fact that there were 41 teams from 10 countries.

Polish team won the Sportsmanship Trophy, which is a fair play prize granted by participants in a ballot.

The whole event is supported by William Koch – America’s Cup winner in 1992. The next ‘Koch Cup’ will be in two years, probably also in USA.
