New bridge to the Sobieszewo Island
17.09.2016 is the big date for all of the residents from Sobieszewo Island. The first blades were stuck into the building site of the new bridge. This is a breakthrough for all citizens of the Island and scouts. By the year 2018 the way to the Island will be fully passable. In 2018 Polish Scouting and Guiding Association Cenentary Jamboree will take place on Sobieszewo Island.
The construction which is financed by goverment and city council of Gdańsk cost in total 57 mln PLN. Construction is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2017. Early users will benefit from the bridge at the beginning of 2018.
During this event the Joint Declaration of Cooperation was signed by the Mayor of Gdansk, the Governor of Pomerania Region, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Chief Scout of ZHP and representatives of local community and NGOs of Sobieszewo Island. The aim is clear and important: All parties of the declaration will undertake actions for social and infrastructural development of the Island. This is a very important part of our bid for the 2023 World Scout Jamboree – says Krol Gzyl, ZHP International Commissioner and Director of the Jamboree Project Team.
Sobieszewo Island is the proposed site for the 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 in Poland.
